Halloween Happiness

This card features two items from the upcoming Holiday catalog, the Halloween Happiness and Magnificent Maple stamps.  It also uses two designer series paper which are on special through July 31st, Modern Medley and Polka Dot Parade.

I cut the sentiment off from the Halloween Happiness stamp to make room for the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper trim.  It's the same technique that I used for this Ears to You card.  With Stampin' Up!'s clear mount stamps, it's easy to separate the sentiment from the image.  Then you can use them together or apart to give a fresh look to your projects.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry markers to ink the image and stamped everything at one time.  Then I added the Polka Dot Parade trim.

You may have already noticed that Modern Medley is my favorite Stampin' Up! designer series paper right now.  I like black and white prints because they are so versatile.  To add a little color, you simply sponge on the paper.  You can see where I added Coastal Cabana to the Modern Medley paper for this project.  It marries or unifies the colors for this jar.

Stock Up on Select Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers

Remember to stock up on Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers!  The Designer Series Papers are on pages 151, 153 and 154 in the 2013 - 2014 Stampin' Up! catalog. Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper are exclusive designs that coordinate with Stampin' Up! cardstock, stamps and embellishments.

My personal favorite is Modern Medley.  This is a series of black and white prints.  I try to collect black and white prints because they coordinate with almost everything.

And you can sponge on different colors like I did with this jar.

Gingham Garden has been the most popular collection of designer series paper so far this year.  The collection is bright and cheery.  It coordinates with Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  It also has coordinating Washi Tape.

The Eastern Elegance collections has bold flourishes and intricate geometrics.  This designer series paper coordinates with the Eastern Elegance suite of products on pages 110 and 111 in the catalog.  The colors are Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana (one of my new favorites!), Smoky Slate and Whisper White.

The Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper was the first collection that I purchased from this new catalog during a sneak peek promotion.  This collection coordinates with the This and That products on pages 128 - 129.  The colors are Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Pool Party, Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

Remember that you can buy 3 and get one free during July. Visit my online store to get your favorite designer series papers..  Remember that when you purchase $25 or more in product, you are eligible for my Rewards Program.

By changing out the papers and stamp, you can easily adapt this card to fit many different occasions.  I think the "B is for Baby" will be perfect with pink or blue banners.

One of the ways to make this card go quickly is to stack a couple of the banners and cut out the notches all at the same time.  And what a great way to use up your scraps.  You'll be seeing several different versions of this card design in the future!

How Do You Rubber Stamp On Metal and Plastic?

Stazon solvent ink is one of the best inks available for stamping on metal and plastic.  To stamp on this jar lid, I used Stazon jet black ink and Stampin' Up!'s Beautifully Baroque stamp.  I left the stamp on the table, rubber side up, and then pressed the jar lid onto the stamp.  By leaving the lid on the jar, I found it easier to use it as a handle to press the jar lid onto the Beautifully Baroque stamp.

Here is a close up of the tag on the jar.  If you'll look carefully, you can also see where I sponged Coastal Cabana on the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper.  This was one of my stamp club projects in June.  I gave people the choice of using Coastal Cabana or Strawberry Slush.  Victoria used a combination of both colors which looked wonderful.

Stazon is a solvent-based, acid-free, permanent ink made by Tsukineko.  It is designed to stamp on non-porous and semi-porous surfaces such as metal, shrink plastic, acrylic, cellophane, leather and some glass surfaces.  Because it dries waterproof, Stazon ink is my top choice for stamping images that will be watercolored.

As a solvent-based ink, Stazon can be removed with Stazon All-Purpose Cleaner.  This is the cleaner that I use for all of my stamps.  Be careful when handling items stamped with Stazon if your hands are still damp from using hand sanitizer.  The alcohol in many hand sanitizers may remove Stazon.

When you first open your Stazon ink pad, you'll see an inner cover mad of clear plastic.  Many people accidentally throw it  away.  Be sure to save that cover!  A Stazon ink pad can dry out quickly if it doesn't have that second cover.  You can use Stampin' Dimensionals to attach the inner cover to the lid.  Here is a picture of the inside of my Jet Black Stazon ink pad.

This is a plastic school folder that I decorated using Stazon ink.  I loved being able to personalize my folder.

Beautifully Baroque Butterfly Card

This card using Stampin' Up!'s Beautifully Baroque, Label Love, Happy Day and Papillon Potpourri stamp sets and Crushed Curry card stock was inspired by Shelli Gardner.   Shelli posted a card on her blog that used these basic elements.  To make a similar card during stamp club, I had the change a few things to fit the supplies I had.

I used the flower from Stampin' Up!'s Happy Day stamp set to add color to the Happy Birthday sentiment from Label Love. I loved how Shelli did that on her card.

You can get the Label Love stamp set and Artisan Label as a bundle for 15% off.  It's only $28.75 for the clear mount stamp set and punch. This Stampin' Up! stamp set and punch combination makes it easy to add a sentiment to a card or gift.

Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape Projects

Washi tape, one of my favorite products in the new Stampin' Up! catalog, is used in all of these projects from our demonstrator swap.  This treat holder was made by Christi Beck.  It holds two Ghirardelli chocolates.

This close up photo shows how Christi used the floral tape from the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape set (129314  $4.95).  I also like the combination of the Artisan Label Punch (130920  $15.95) and the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch (129404  $12.95).

Here are the three different designs in the Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape set.  You can see in this photo how easy it would be to decorate clothespins with Washi Tape.

Cindy Peterson make this card using the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper (129310  $10.95).  The coordinating colors are Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizazz and Whisper White.

This is the card I made for the swap.  You can get the details in the post right before this one.

Washi Tape first became popular in Japan.  It's a decorative tape that can be easily torn or cut.  The tape is repositionable and can be moved if you do it fairly quickly.  Once again, I love how Stampin' Up! coordinates its Washi Tape and Designer Series Paper.  The Gingham Garden Designer series is an early popular front runner from the new Stampin' Up! catalog.

This is another card that I made using the Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape.  When you stamp on Washi Tape, I recommend using Stazon ink.

Washi Tape in a Flower Shop

This card was made with some of my favorite products from Stampin' Up!'s new catalog including the Flower Shop and Banner Greetings stamp sets, the Pansy Punch and Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape.  Check out the OWH Design Bootcamp to see how I used repetition as a design element when making this card.

I am attracted to bundles where Stampin' Up! has a stamp set and coordinating punch.  There are several stamp sets that coordinate with the pansy punch including Flower Shop.  With the Flower Shop bundle, you save 15% when you get the stamp set and punch together for only $28.75.  You'll be seeing other projects using this bundle.

Notice the dark outline around the flowers? That is the Rich Razzleberry mat showing through where I punched out the Whisper White card stock.  I then attached the flowers with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Washi Tape is one of my favorite new Stampin' Up! products.  It works like a semi-transparent, removable tape.  It's a quick and easy way to add color to a card without any bulk.
