Stampin' Up! Bee a Sweet Friend

This card was made using Stampin' Up!'s new Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die.  I used the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper because the design reminded me of a honeycomb and the Daffodil Delight color was perfect.

One tip when using the Hexagon Hive Thinlits (and most of the Thinlits), put a piece of wax paper between the Thinlit and your cardstock.  Thinlits are intricate and sometimes it can be difficult to pop out the card stock after running it through your Big Shot.  The wax paper gives a slick surface so it's easy to remove the card stock.

And whenever you are using a Framelit to die cut a stamped image, I highly recommend using Stampin' Up!'s magnet platform for the Big Shot.  It makes it so easy to cut out the image without worry about things shifting around.

Notice the sentiment, "My Sweet Friend"?  You can use the sentiments from the Six-Sided Sampler Stamp Set for many other projects beside ones that use the hexagon punch.  I like the small size sentiments because they fit so many other punches and in small spaces like this card.

Visit my Pinterest boards for more Stampin' Up! ideas for cards and 3D items.

Sale-A-Bration Banner Card With Mini Tutorial

I made this card using free items from Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up!'s biggest promotion where you get one free item for every $50 that you spend.  The flags were made using the banner punch, the Banner Blast stamp set and the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper.

The card could easily be changed into a baby shower card.  It was inspired by several cards on my DIY Valentines Pinterest Board.

Did you notice that some of the flags are longer? To make a longer flag, you cut a strip of paper that is 1/2" wide.  Put it in the punch as shown.  Then you can cut the banner to make it the length that fits your project!

Sale-A-Bration always brings back fond memories for me.  I went to my first Stampin' Up! workshop during this promotion.  I remember putting together my $50 order so I could get my free stamp set.  I was hooked and signed up as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator in April 2005.  That was almost 9 years ago and I still enjoy rubber stamping!  I just have a whole lot more Stampin' Up! friends.

I'll be posting more Sale-A-Bration projects this coming week.  Sale-A-Bration goes from January 28th through March 31st.

More Sale-A-Bration Swaps

Sale-A-Bration starts Tuesday, January 28th and I wanted to share more of the samples that use free Sale-A-Bration products.  When you spend $50 (before shipping and tax), you can select a free item from our selection of free products.

Marilyn Young made these two cards using Decorative Dots Embossing folder and the ombre technique.  With the ombre technique, you use colors that are similar in hue with light, medium and dark values.  And if you know Marilyn, coloring is one of her many talents.

Marilyn also made this card featuring the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set (130956  $18.95) and the Decorative Dotes embossing folder.  If you go back to my first post of Sale-A-Bration samples, you'll notice that several of us used this folder in our projects.  Embossing folders are a wonderful, quick way to add texture to your cards and 3D items.

Janet Holmes made this card using the Petal Parade stamp set.  I love the Basic Black accents.

One of my favorite Sale-A-Bration freebies is the Good as Gold card kit.  You get everything you need to make 8 cards with coordinating lined envelopes.  Notice the reflection on the gold liner?  That is how shiny the gold foil is that lines the envelopes.  I'm so glad that Cindy Peterson made these cards for our swap.  And by the way, you get the Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine and gold elastic cord too!

Believe it or not, there are still more Sale-A-Bration freebies that you can choose from when you order $50 in product between January 28 and March 31, 2014.  Contact me for more information.

Visit my online store to get your supplies for this project.  For your $50 order, you can put together your favorite products including items from the Weekly Deals and Clearance Rack.  Remember that when you purchase $25 or more in product, you are eligible for my Rewards Program.

Sale-A-Bration Swaps

Here are the swaps I got for Sale-A-Bration, Stampin' Up!'s biggest promotion of the year, which goes from January 28th through March 31st.  For every $50 you spend, you get to pick a free Sale-A-Bration item.  Christi Beck made this mini espresso cup using Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper.  The Crisp Cantaloupe Ruffle Stretch Trim (130021  $8.95) is perfect for this project.

I made the envelope favor (again).  I like how you can change the embellishments to fit different occasions.  This was my first time to use the Spiral Flower Die (129379  $17.95).  With the die, and a little practice, these flowers are quick and easy. You will need a hot glue gun.

Cindy Peterson made this cute 3D treat holder using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch (133324  $22.95).  Notice the little flags on Cindy's and my projects?  We made them using the Sale-A-Bration Banner Punch.

Everyone made two swaps.  My second swap was this card using the Banner Blast stamp set and Banner Punch.  You can get the details and a mini tutorial from my earlier post.

This was Christi Beck's second swap.  It is a photo album using the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper and the See Ya Later stamp set.  I love how she used the Starburst Framelits Dies (132967  $26.95) and our Silver Glimmer Paper (124005  $4.95) to make the sentiment pop.

Here is an altered notebook that I made using the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper for a Leadership gift.  Stampin' Up! always has a nice designer series paper for Sale-A-Bration.  Sweet Sorbet coordinates with Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit and Whisper White.

Well, that is half of the Sale-A-Bration swaps I received tonight.  I'll share the others later this week.

Sale-A-Bration starts Tuesday, January 28th.  When you are placing your order, you can use the Weekly Deals, Clearance Rack and anything else in my online store to put together a $50 order so you can choose a Sale-A-Bration item for free!  Order $100 and select two free Sale-A-Bration items.
