World Card Making Day Bloghop Thank You Cards

Welcome to Operation Write Home's World Card Making Day Bloghop. It was so much fun looking through all of the OWH sketches and trying to pick my favorite one to use.  I finally decided to use two different ones.  This is the first thank you card I made using OWH's Sketch #135

Here is the second thank you card I made using OWH Sketch #142.

Both cards are quick and easy to make thanks to the Big Shot and punches.  I agree with someone who posted that OWH Sketch #142 is a wonderful way to use scraps. Which card do you like the best?

Check out the details and supplies for these cards.

World Card Making Day Thank You Card Details

Stampin' Up!'s Expressions Thinlits are perfect for making this Thank You card using Operation Write Home's Sketch #135.  I used the Thankful expression and cut off the end of the word.  The "you" in the heart is from the Lots of Thanks Stamp set.  The colors in Stampin' Up!'s I Am Me Designer Series Paper  are Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Real Red, So Saffron and Whisper White.

Here is a close up view of the center of the card.  A quick tip when using the thinlits is to put a piece of wax paper between the thinlit and the card stock.  Run it through the Big Shot using the instructions that come with the thinlits.  The expression will easily separate from the metal die thanks to the wax paper.  To adhere the sentiment to the card, I used Stampin' Up!'s 2-way glue.  That made it quick and easy without any mess.

Here is the second card I made using Stampin' Up!'s Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper and Operation Write Home's Sketch #142The Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper coordinates with the following Stampin' Up! colors:  Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Slush and Whisper White.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  It uses the Petite Pairs stamp set which is one of my go to stamp sets.  It also uses one of my favorite combinations of the large oval and oval scallop punches along with the Apothecary Accents Framelits.

Halloween Quick and Easy Favors

Looking for some party favors ideas for your Halloween party?  At our last demonstrator meeting, we had a 3D swap.  Everybody made such cute projects!  Here are some of the Halloween ideas.  This first project was made to look like candy corn.  This was a show and tell item rather than a swap.  So cute!

Melody Smith made this candy holder.  She used the Labels framelit to die cut the holder.  She then stamped it with the Toil and Trouble stamp set  (131727  $16.95).  She stamped it again on a separate piece of paper and used Heat and Stick Powder to add the black glitter.  She cut out the different images and added them to the holder.  This added some wonderful accents.

Janet Holmes made this quick and easy lollipop cover.  In addition to being a fast project that you could do with the family, it also makes a wonderful display with all of the lollipops lined up in rows.  She used the Halloween Hello stamp set (131721  $14.95).

This project comes from the Stampin' Up! design team.  It also uses the Halloween Hello stamp set (131721  $14.95) along with the Witches Brew Designer Series Paper (132185  $10.95).

At our last stamp club meeting, we made these party favors with Stampin' Up!'s Pumpkin Pie Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit  (132792  $4.95 for 10 favors).  This was by far the fastest and easiest way to make favors if you have a lot of little gifts to make and not a lot of time.

Birthday Candles with a Punch!

This is a fun birthday card that is quick and easy to make.  It uses the Blossom Petals Punch which is on the clearance rack now for $6.79!  Hurry, the punch is only available while supplies last.

You can see how I used the two smallest petals to make the candle flames.  I like this card because you can also use up any scraps of designer series paper that you might have on hand.

Halloween Happiness

This card features two items from the upcoming Holiday catalog, the Halloween Happiness and Magnificent Maple stamps.  It also uses two designer series paper which are on special through July 31st, Modern Medley and Polka Dot Parade.

I cut the sentiment off from the Halloween Happiness stamp to make room for the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper trim.  It's the same technique that I used for this Ears to You card.  With Stampin' Up!'s clear mount stamps, it's easy to separate the sentiment from the image.  Then you can use them together or apart to give a fresh look to your projects.

I used Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry markers to ink the image and stamped everything at one time.  Then I added the Polka Dot Parade trim.

You may have already noticed that Modern Medley is my favorite Stampin' Up! designer series paper right now.  I like black and white prints because they are so versatile.  To add a little color, you simply sponge on the paper.  You can see where I added Coastal Cabana to the Modern Medley paper for this project.  It marries or unifies the colors for this jar.

Stock Up on Select Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers

Remember to stock up on Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers!  The Designer Series Papers are on pages 151, 153 and 154 in the 2013 - 2014 Stampin' Up! catalog. Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper are exclusive designs that coordinate with Stampin' Up! cardstock, stamps and embellishments.

My personal favorite is Modern Medley.  This is a series of black and white prints.  I try to collect black and white prints because they coordinate with almost everything.

And you can sponge on different colors like I did with this jar.

Gingham Garden has been the most popular collection of designer series paper so far this year.  The collection is bright and cheery.  It coordinates with Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  It also has coordinating Washi Tape.

The Eastern Elegance collections has bold flourishes and intricate geometrics.  This designer series paper coordinates with the Eastern Elegance suite of products on pages 110 and 111 in the catalog.  The colors are Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana (one of my new favorites!), Smoky Slate and Whisper White.

The Epic Day This and That Designer Series Paper was the first collection that I purchased from this new catalog during a sneak peek promotion.  This collection coordinates with the This and That products on pages 128 - 129.  The colors are Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Pool Party, Very Vanilla and Whisper White.

Remember that you can buy 3 and get one free during July. Visit my online store to get your favorite designer series papers..  Remember that when you purchase $25 or more in product, you are eligible for my Rewards Program.

A Quick and Easy Banner Christmas

Stampin' Up!'s A Banner Christmas and Occasions Alphabet stamp sets make this Christmas card quick and easy.  This is a sneak peek of the Season of Style Designer Series Paper and A Banner Christmas stamp set which are in the upcoming Holiday catalog.  Items from the Holiday catalog will be available starting August 1, 2013.

By changing out the papers and stamp, you can easily adapt this card to fit many different occasions.  I think the "B is for Baby" will be perfect with pink or blue banners.

One of the ways to make this card go quickly is to stack a couple of the banners and cut out the notches all at the same time.  And what a great way to use up your scraps.  You'll be seeing several different versions of this card design in the future!
