Holiday Catalog Sneak Peeks

Stampin' Up!'s Inspire Create Share 2014 was wonderful as always.  The convention was well paced and we had time for learning, being with friends, swapping and getting a sneak peek at the Holiday catalog!  This was the first year where we could buy some of the items from the Holiday catalog at convention.  Needless to say, with the free product we get at convention, gifts, swaps and shopping at the convention store, I came home with more than I started out with.  LOL!

At Inspire Create Share 2014, Stampin' Up! provides all of these display boards with samples of new product.  While I can't share pictures of the new product until it is available, starting August 28, I can show you some of the samples using items from the new Holiday catalog.

This card uses the single stamp, Bearing Gifts.  Notice the small, sparkling stars?  Those come from a new star punch!

This stamp set, White Christmas, is on my wish list.  It's a clear photopolymer stamp set which makes it easier to line up the different images, in this case the Merry Christmas banner between the trees.  And there are those little stars again!

Recognize this stamp set, Endless Wishes?  It sold out in just a few weeks last year.  So glad it's back!

The Newborn King stamp set is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas!

Envelope Liner Bag and Scrunched Flower Tutorials

I was inspired to make this Envelope Liner Bag with a Scrunched Flower when I saw this tutorial for making the flower and Stampin' Up! put their Envelope Liner Framelits on sale.  After making a different envelope liner purse, I wanted something a little smaller.  That's why I designed this one using the smallest envelope liner.  By the way, the purse isn't warped like this in real life.  It's just how the photo made it look.

I made this project with my stamp club.  Everyone did a wonderful job making their flower and bag.  The project is easier than it looks.  IMHO, the hardest part is waiting for the paper flower to dry.

Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek: Watercolor Wonder

Inspire, Create, Share 2014 was one of the most fun conventions I have been to with Stampin' Up!.  I took a class using the Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit (135869  $24.95) which will be available in the new Holiday Catalog starting August 28th! 

The Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit comes with everything you need to make 5 each of these 4 cards for a total of 20 cards and envelopes.  There are 10 Coastal Cabana envelopes and 10 Crumb Cake ones.

In addition to showing us how to make these card, Stampin' Up! also issued a Pinterest challenge.  The challenge is to make variations of these cards only using what comes in the kit.  The card at the top of this post is the one that I'm posting on the Stampin' Up! board.  I'd appreciate it if you would pin my card from Stampin' Up!'s board as that is part of the challenge.

Bordering Blooms with Free Tutorial

I used the Bordering Blooms photopolymer stamps set to make this quick and easy card for my swaps at Stampin' Up!'s Inspire, Create, Share Convention 2014.  My stamp club made this thank you card earlier this week.  They found it easy to line up the images with the clear stamp set.

Notice the small diagonals on the designer series paper that I used to make the thin borders?  This tutorial shows you this quick and easy technique using the Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stacks.

I'm looking forward to the first day of convention!  I'll be catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.  I'll share the swaps that I receive with you on my blog.  And I plan to post other fun convention highlights too!

Starburst Sun with Free Tutorial

This Starburst Sun is a combination of several sources of inspiration.  Ray of Sunshine was one of the first stamp sets I bought from the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  I loved how sponging gave the sun more dimension.  And finally, I wanted to make a variation of the starburst technique that minimized the number of scraps left over from the traditional starburst technique.

This Starburst Sun is a variation of my Starburst Patriotic card.  I used the idea of having the cardstock show between the rays to make them pop.  

Then I borrowed a technique that I learned many years ago from a quilting class.  You stack layers of fabric (or in this case, paper) and cut them all at the same time.  Then you pick different papers from each stack to make backgrounds that are similar, but not the same.  

You can see how I used 4 layers of 3 x 4" Crushed Curry designer series paper for my starburst variation in this video.  You can make your own starburst template with the instructions in my video or from the picture below.  You are also welcome to email me if you would like a copy of my template.

Bloom with Hope Quick and Easy Card with Tutorial

This quick and easy card works well with Stampin' Up!'s Bloom with Hope hostess stamp set.  You can sponge any combination of colors and mat with one of the colors.  For this card, I used two of Stampin' Up!'s newest In Colors, Tangelo Twist and Lost Lagoon.

Here is the tutorial showing how I sponged on the color and used that handy crafting tool, Post-It Notes!

Here is a tutorial showing how to add the rhinestone bling and custom color if desired.

Kirigami (Cut and Fold) Box with Free Tutorial

This kirigami (cut and fold) box which uses one sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock is fun and easy to make using the tutorial with Sharing Creativity and Company.  I was inspired to design this box after seeing one that used a 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock.  Because the cardstock was cut down to almost 8 1/2 x 11 in the original design, I thought it would be nice to start with an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock.  After playing with the measurements until I came up with this box!

IMHO, the video tutorial is the easiest way to figure out the cutting instructions.  While I have included the exact cutting measurements in the video, it's much quicker to take advantage of the clear ruler on Stampin' Up!'s paper trimmer.  Then you don't have to worry about the measurements.

I also made this IAM (In A Minute) Tutorial to show how I made the custom colored bling brads.  It's easy peasy using Stampin' Up! products!

Here is the picture tutorial if you prefer pictures.  The papers I used were the Lullaby designer series paper (133695, $10.95) , Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey, and Baked Brown Sugar cardstock.
