Storing your Framelits

Framelits are some of my favorite new products in the Occasions mini catalog.  There are currently two Collections to choose from: Hearts and Labels.  Each set comes with 6 thin, wafer-like dies.  With this new type of die, you can see where you are placing your design.  Stampin' Up! has also introduced several new stamp sets that coordinate with the new Framelits.  The card above was made using Apothecary Art (125527) and the Labels Collection Framelits (125598).

When you get your Framelits, they come in a plastic envelope.  I found that I prefer using Stampin' Up!'s clear-mount stamp case to store the Framelits.  While many different Stampin' Up! demonstrators have shown this idea, the inspiration for this project came from Janet Wakeland.

I took two strips of magnet sheet and adhered them to a Stampin' Up! clear storage case.  The strips hold the Framelit dies in place.  I then made the cover in My Digital Studio and added it to the storage case.  On the back of the case, I put the instruction sheet that comes with the Framelits.

If I were to do this again, I would use thinner strips of the magnet sheet, maybe 3 inches wide instead of the 4 inches I used in the case in the photo.

The stampin' supplies for this project are:

Hearts Collection Framelits (125599) $26.95
Labels Collection Framelits (125598) $26.95
Clear-Mount Stamp Cases (119105 for 4) $5.95
Magnet Sheets (119816 for a set of 3 6" x 13" sheets) $9.95

Twitterpated Product Suite

One of the things I enjoy the most about Stampin' Up! is how they coordinate their products into suites.  I'd like to share some projects that use the Twitterpated Product Suite.

I loved this card that was on display at Stampin'  Up!'s Leadership Conference.  This card uses the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (125406), the Adorning Accents Edgelit Die (125595) to make that great scalloped edge and the Apothecary Art stamp set (125527).

Here is peek at all of the papers in the Twitterpated set.  The paper is 12 x 12 and double-sided.

This card is made with the Elegant Bird Bigz Die (125593), the Twitterpated paper, the Rue Des Fleurs stamp set (125487) and our Basic Pearls (119247).

For my January stamp clubs, one of our projects was this mini treat bucket.  It uses one of my new favorites, pleated satin ribbon.  Here are all the colors that it comes in.

Pear Pizzazz 125568
Blushing Bride 125570
Baja Breeze 125571
Riding Hood Red 125569

Here is the list of stampin' supplies for the mini treat bucket.

I {Love} Love Jumbo Wheel (117084) to decorate the tissue paper
Tiny Tags stamp set (118592)
Island Indigo Classic Stamp Pad (122937)
Twitterpated Designer Series Paper (125406)
Pleated Satin Ribbon Blushing Bride (125570)
Buttons #5 Sizzlits (113440)
Heart to Heart Punch (119881)
Twitterpated Designer Buttons (125579)
White Baker's Twine (124262)

I bought the little buckets at the Dollar Tree.  They're in the wedding section.

What are your favorite items in the Twitterpated Product Suite?  Leave a comment here to be entered into a drawing for a card using products from the Twitterpated Suite.

Happy Valentine's Day

I'd like to share this Valentine card that my friend, Terry Stanford, made using the Take It To Heart stamp set and the Hearts Collection Framelits.  Terry has a knack for coloring, as you can see.  I loved how she used an embossing folder to texture the background along with our sticky back Basic Pearls.  What a gorgeous card, Terry.  Thank you for letting me share it on my blog.

The items she used to make this card include the following.  You can purchase these items through my online store.

Take It To Heart stamp set  125522   $23.95
Hearts Collection Framelits  125599  $26.95
Elegant Lines Embossing Folder 119277  $7.95
Basic Pearls 119247 $4.95
Big Shot 113439 $99.95

Here are the other images that are available in the Take It To Heart stamp set.  I like the image of the kids on the bicycle too.

Free My Digital Studio Express 30-Day Trial

Download My Digital Studio for FREE from my website and try it for 30 days.  As Brenda Brooks, one of my stamp club members said, the program is pretty intuitive.  She designed this bingo card for her son's Valentine Day party.  One of the things I like about My Digital Studio is you only have to design the project once.  Then you can print out as many as you need.

This is the cover for the book I made for all of my downline who went to Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference in January in San Antonio.  Because it was a digital design, I was able to customize the cover with each person's name before printing it out.  When people saw the book, they asked if I had put it together after arriving in San Antonio because of the pictures.  Thanks to the internet, I had downloaded the jpg's and completed the books before leaving for leadership.  The hotel that you can see on the cover is the Hilton Palacio Del Rio.  That is the hotel where we stayed.   I loved it.  When you go out the front door, the convention center was right across the street.  When you go out the back door, you are on the River Walk!

I've started using My Digital Studio more and more for digital designing. I'm so glad that Stampin' Up! has made it possible for you to try the program for free.  Download it today and let me know how you like it.  If you would like any tutoring on the program, please contact me at sharon@sharoncheng.com.  Thanks to programs like joinme.com, I can help you with the program while we are both in our own homes.  If there is enough interest, I can set up structured class times.  Otherwise, I'm happy to help you with short tutoring sessions.

If you buy My Digital Studio during Sale-A-Bration, you can qualify for free Sale-A-Bration products.  I've been recommending the One Big Sale-A-Bration CD to my customers who want to try out digital designing.  It has all of the exclusive Sale-A-Bration products in digital format.  Now there is no reason to worry about running out of my current favorite paper, Everyday Enchantment!

Modifying Your Sizzlit So Card Stock Doesn't Stick

If you're like me and a Big Shot fan, you probably already know which of your sizzlits have designs where it can take extra work to pop out the card stock after it is cut.  The designs are usually small, intricate and have a scalloped or serrated design.  The card stock seems to stick to the sizzlit after it is cut.  I found a tip on another blog that talked about using clear packing tape over the sizzlit so the card stock released more easily.  I can't remember who originally posted the idea.  If you know, please contact me so I can give the person credit.

I tried out the idea with one of my favorite sizzlit designs, the #5 Buttons Die.  You can't see it, but there is clear tape over the entire die.

Can you tell that I only use the large button on the bottom right?  LOL. Turns out that it makes a great mat for a 1" circle.  That is how I made the mat for the center image on the card shown at the top of this post.  Anyway, the scalloped edge and those buttonholes in the middle seemed to hold the card stock to the die.  I put the clear packing tape (sticky side down) over the sizzlit.  That makes the surface of the die slick enough so the card stock comes off much more easily.  Now that it's easier to use, you might see more of these scalloped circle mats in my projects!

Here are other details about the card.  While it's a hybrid card using both the digital and rubber stamp versions of Apothecary Art, it could easily be made using only the rubber or digital version.

Because I plan to make several of these cards, it was easier to color the center image of the smallest label digitally and make multiple copies.  On my computer, I enlarged the image to about 300%, colored it and then returned it back to the original 1" size.  The background that is stamped in Lucky Limeade was done with a rubber stamp and then die cut with the Labels Collection Framelits.  The Framelits make it easy to see exactly where you are die cutting.

Try out the packing tape modification with your sizzlits with intricate designs.  It can make some of those sizzlits your favorites again!

Note:  Adding packing tape to your sizzlit probably invalidates the 3 year warranty since you have modified the product.  Another alternative could be to use a shim of wax paper between the sizzlit and the paper you are cutting.  That way you aren't modifying the sizzlit, but you are adding a slick surface so your card stock doesn't stick.  I had tried that method but didn't like adding a piece of wax paper each time.  I saw a vendor at the Grapevine Rubber Stamp Festival who just left the same piece of wax paper in place.  DUH.  Both methods work.  Use the one that fits you best.
